Open Road

It seemed obvious that the van was a gift. It was less obvious, however, whether it came from God, the agent, or sinister forces. Those tidbits were less important to me. What truly mattered was that we had a car, and that meant freedom. Freedom to go anywhere we chose. I will admit though that it wasn't the most comfortable ride. In order to save on gas I turned off the A/C. Even with the windows rolled down it was unbearable. We were both feeling miserable and drenched in sweat. Eventually I caved and cranked up the air conditioning. Predictably, soon after I did that we ran out of gas. We were then stranded in the middle of the desert with no food or water, and no gas station in sight. It was perfect.
