The only line of defense between us and the ever approaching purple portal was the invisible barrier for the holographic island. Seeing as how anybody could enter and exit the area around the island without any difficulty, we knew this was not sound protection. We watched in eager anticipation as the purple portal pushed against our barrier. At first our barrier seemed to be holding its own, pushing the portal back. Then portal overpowered it. Despite the fact that we were outside on a sunny day it was as if a power surge happened at that moment. The light went out. "What happened?" Olivia shouted. "It's the portal. It sucked up all the light." Norm explains. The portal encroached further on our territory. The sun flicked back on, and I could now see that it was  wrapped around us creating a little dome. "It's just playing with us now. It could easily finish us off."Norm says. "Well, why doesn't it?" I ask. "What would be the fun in that?" He responds. A paper airplane falls from the sky. It spirals around Olivia and lands at her feet. She picks it up and reads it. "It says go, now!" "And how are we going to do that?" Norm sneers. A rope ladder falls from the sky. The end of it lands by Olivia's head. She looks up at the long rope ladder. "Shall we?"
